McNeill Designs donates over $800 in educational games to exceptional teachers at North Side Elementary

October 24, 2011

Don McNeill surprises North Side Elementary fifth grade teacher Ms. Renniger, as well as seven other teachers, with educational games for the classroom.

Recently, we learned about North Side Elementary’s Khristina Renninger, an exceptional fifth grade teacher, who was one of the teachers selected nationwide to receive classroom supplies through OfficeMax’s annual “A Day Made Better” program.

In an article about the program, we were thrilled to hear that one of her classes’ favorite activities is playing the You’ve Been Sentenced! word game!  However, none of the other fourth or fifth grade classes at the school have a copy. So we decided to make a surprise visit of our own!

This week, we surprised teachers in eight different North Side classrooms of fourth and fifth grade students with a copy of You’ve been Sentenced!, an entire collection of themed add-on decks, and a copy of the memory game Twisted Fish!

The response was so enthusiastic and the children had so many questions, in fact, that we’ve be invited back to speak to students at a special assembly about entrepreneurship and how to take an idea from concept to completion!

Many thanks to North Side Elementary’s Principal Dr. Mary Nardo for facilitating the donation and for the wonderful invitation to return!

    Hi Don,

Am doing OK…still in the final stages of the recovery on the eye — which has been an interesting trip. Donor tissue began rejecting, so they amped the steroids to hourly for six weeks — what a strange trip that was — and it corrected the rejection.

Otherwise, have been traveling and rather busy. We’re looking at a new warehouse to increase size and capacity…the fulfillment side is doing better than expected — while the sales side is steady…past two months have been active and we’re working on 2012.

Am going out to see a few accounts in the coming month. Would like to take Sentenced and Twisted Fish along for the journeys. Buy Mart, Costco and LTD.

We’re also beginning to put together a catalog for 2012. It’s early because we won’t release it until after Toy Fair — but we’re looking to get confirmations from manufacturers so we can begin the layout process after Thanksgiving.

Hope you’re doing well…know you’ve battled a few health items, too. How are you doing?

Thanks for the thoughts and concerns. All is well.
